The Indian festival called the Ganesh Chaturthi Festival is the festival that is celebrated throughout India mainly in the sacred month of ‘Bhaadrapada’ that coincides with the ending days of August and the beginning of the month of September of the English calendar. Though the festival of Ganesha Chaturthi comes on the tithi’ or date referred as the ‘shukla chaturthi’ termed by the Hindu calendar, the jubilations extend till the following ten or twelve days. The whole atmosphere of celebration welcomes the arrival of great Lord Ganesha on the Earth.
In relation to the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi and the birth of Lord Ganesha whose parents are the divine couple Lord Shiva and Parvati, a very general belief is that Lord Ganesha was brought into existence by a mud statue formed by his mother at the time when she was heading to take bath. |
